Christmas Duet

- Helen Adeleke

Oh! Christmas.
The season of hearty Yuletide.
When the nativity of the man of creativity is a delight. When ism and
schism become unitude.
When we deck the halls with balls.
And celebrate noel with bael in diel.
Oh! Christmas.
The season of Joyous Yule.
When we say goodbye to the old and welcome the new. When we
decorate with lanterns and streams.
With the sweet smell of osmanthus flowers in the air. That brings
about tranquility and serenity.
Oh! Christmastime.
A period in which we feel on cloud nine. When we have a whole of a
time.
With music Cantata alongside Fanta. With the sweet smell of rice
dumplings. That chase-away flies to the trooping moon.
Oh! Christmas, the nail–biter.
When we say goodbye to the old and welcome the new. When we see
the old year out and the new year in.
Oh! Advent.
Time to eat, drink and be merry.
Tis the season to be jolly.
CKK
Blithe it would dispose
But mucky is the atmosphere;
Now, we only enjoy Christmas in escapism. Such inferiority we enjoy
with placidity.
Tired, withal a placard of hope stand tall.
Rend, but today would serve as opium to forget. If you would take a
sojourn of approbation Thence cast the blame with positivity
Into the womb of tomorrow.
A colony of the merry chapel,
Once a year — the moment to change the era. Offer a sedentary,
tender penance and pray. If the other lane is sustained
Today would change tomorrow No tomorrow will ever come.
Today should be the embodiment of piety. The nation should hear us
speaks for the whole: A capacious not prepossessing people, In heart,
might, and sight.
Space for no wanton
All days would be that of Christmas.
No, enthuse as we jolly round the year.
Let’s hearten ourselves; unmask the masquerade. It’s Christmas, not a
day of sorrow-mas
