Here again, are we at Christmas yuletide;
Relish, fun, tease of festive season,
Picnics, socials, and visits of tourists worldwide;
Neither think they, a bit of God’s reason,
Nor ever reflect in basic lessons.
One, for God to think of such voyage;
Stepped down in weakness for human voltage,
Shrink in love from lofty capability;
Into the fame of lowly vulnerability,
To give the world such undue heritage.
Two, with the deserved affluence of Jerusalem;
His birth wasn’t of the great city,
But in preference for the weakness of Bethlehem;
Leaving us a sample of God’s simplicity,
For so we shall possess all of his kingdom.
Then think of that undeserved accessibility;
Lived, walked and worked to meet our needs,
Bridging the gap and gulf that swallowed humanity;
Sinners-Centurions, Syrophoenician, not leaving out the blinds,
With might, ability of his stripes to heal our infirmity.
Think of him who spites his uncommon glory;
Condescends with this unusual humility,
Consider thy Lord born in a manger;
Or else, live forever and gnash in eternal danger,
Dearth of room for him in the inn of earth;
Now, must he live and rule if offered a room in your heart.
